ok so when the exiles are doing the rites, only one person from each team can move at a time–you only control one character at any given moment and must pass control between the characters; so does the enemy AI

so like….two of your characters are just standing  there, watching you fumble around with the ball, probably either cheering you on or yelling at you to do better. backseat gaming you because their lives depend on it

i would like… pyre, but where the reasoning for a reader not being able to ascend is more concrete and less obliquely undefined. i do enjoy the aspect of personal definition: you control who your reader is, and what makes them unsuitable, but another ‘some day you will become this’ ultimatum would have been… interesting.

(as you read the books, you also read the stars; not all triumvirates have readers, but the benefit supplied by having one is balanced with the fact that they slowly take on the likeness of the scribes. that is to say: celestial.)

“Look.  We’ll help each other to get out of here.  And as for the Rites, we don’t want you to feel left out.  Every time we go out there, you’re right there with us, far as I’m concerned.”
