The royal family employs no bodyguards. A would-be assassin discovers why.
“Please?” the crown prince said hopefully.
The assassin hesitated. “I’m not sure I’m comfortable with this.”
“Come on, you’re doing great. Just one stab, it’ll be easy-peasy.” The prince spread his arms wide, leaving his throat and chest vulnerable.
“Look, I’m going to level with you,” the assassin said. “I took this contract on the assumption that you were a bad dude. Usually when a country goes bankrupt this fast, it’s because whoever’s in charge is raiding the treasury. But once I infiltrated the guard, I actually had to spend time around you, and you’re just.” The assassin threw her hands up in disgust. “You’re a really nice person! There’s no getting around it! So I’m not super on board with murdering you now. Nothing personal.”
“But if you don’t, my sisters won’t get the life insurance payout, and the country will be in debt for the next century!”
“I’m pretty sure arranging for your own assassination is insurance fraud.”
“Your whole job is to commit murder,” the prince said, “and now you’re worried about a little insurance fraud?”
The assassin pinched the bridge of her nose. “Okay, let’s back up and think about this rationally. Have you considered faking your own death?”
This was not what I was expecting, and it is glorious.
1. Use the Polygon Frame Tool or the Pen Tool to create a selection around the window or opening through which the sun ray will supposedly pass.
2. Create a new layer and fill the selection with the color you want for your ambient light effect. I have used the color # fff6dc but you can use the one you like the most.
3. Use the Free Transform Tool by pressing Ctrl + T and then with the right click select Distort or go to the Edit menu> Transform> Distort and distort the form as shown below. You can also use Perspective to widen the end of the shape to create the effect that light expands.
4. Softens the light beam using blurring filters. For this type of effect I like to use the rectangle blur because it is not so linear and keeps the edges a little more focused. (Gaussian blur)
5.
Create a layer mask for your light beam using a linear gradient to attenuate the end of the out-of-focus shape. Reduce the opacity of the layer to the point where it seems realistic. I left it the same but you can lower the opacity to your liking.
This step is additional. 1. Cover duplicated layer with background color. 2. Add new layer, use gradiend tool, change blending options and opacity. It gives more depth to the background 🙂
I tried my best to explain everything. PLUS hereis a PSD file of “June 2.0″ full body screenshot edit so you can see whole process. Enjoy 🙂
EDIT. Sorry for any mistakes. I’m an idiot, I can’t type properly and my grammar sucks 😀
Explanation: I duplicate and create new layers because when it comes to adding details etc. I like to work on seperate layers and this is just my way of editing or drawing generally, when I make a mistake I can easily go back and repair anything.
